I would Love to be a Guest Speaker for Your Organization

From being the keynote speaker at large symposiums…to workshops sponsored by Stephen Ministries…to small revenues at public libraries and civic organizations…I welcome the chance to address the topic of dementia caregiving.

While the subject may sound depressing and dry, my presentations have received outstanding reviews. I can instill a little humor with my personal stories while suggesting practical techniques that anyone can put into place. My speaking style is conversational and inclusive, inviting everyone to change their view of dementia and understand how each person can help overwhelmed dementia caregivers in many ways.

“I am so grateful for the support and council you gave me during the difficult times of caring for my husband with dementia.
You read "between  my words" and recognized my pain and confusion.  Your words encouraged me to be totally honest.  What a relief to feel the burden lift as you gave me solid advice with kindness and understanding.“

Popular Titles Include:

Visitation 101: Drawing from excerpts of my books, I impart valuable insights gained from my experiences in hospice care, as a counselor, and most significantly, as the primary caregiver for my mother who suffered from dementia. Participants will depart with a comprehensive understanding of the necessary preparations and effective strategies to ensure positive and fruitful interactions with individuals suffering from dementia or Alzheimer's disease.

Churches and the Neglected Parishioner: This presentation suggests that there exist two significant, yet underserved, ministries within numerous religious institutions. The question arises: who within the church feels equipped to handle the stress and demands not just of the patient, but also of the primary caregiver? Furthermore, which members of the "Visiting the Sick" committee are prepared to engage with those suffering from Alzheimer's or dementia?. I am here to provide guidance on how the church can enhance its service to these often overlooked segments of the congregation.

Caregiver Transformation: The Potential for Self-Discovery: This offers a fresh and unique perspective on the positive impacts that can be derived from the role of a caregiver. Despite the inherent challenges that come with caregiving, there lies a profound potential for personal growth and development, if the caregiver is receptive to such possibilities. The journey of caregiving can cultivate greater patience, foster deeper compassion, and underscore the importance of self-care. These invaluable lessons can instigate a transformative shift in one's attitude, creating a lasting impact that extends far beyond the tenure of caregiving.
